Review Copy Policy

Hihi out there!! :)

Yesh I have a bunch of things I want/need to blog here and I'm so behind right now it's just bleh bleh blehhhhrrhrhhrrhrhrhghghghghghghhhhh...but I'm gonna work on getting caught up! ;)

However...the girls & I have been talking and after having a few things passed on we really decided it's best if we post up this official review copy policy/disclaimer...just an fyi for those designers out there who're working hard and for those readers who're always looking for something new! ;)

So let me say first...YES...designers...we DO want to see what you have out there that's new and cool...in fact, that is *precisely* what we're after. However, that said, we want to stress a cpl things:

#1) Landmarks and a little note are *vastly* preferred over actual review copies. You can even include some ad copy on the notecards if you like. Trust me...none of us have problems shopping and if we see things we like it's a given we're going to buy. Also by giving a lm rather than a copy we eliminate a lot of the issues of late between designers & bloggers regarding use of review copies...and it's more inventory friendly! ;)

#2) If/when landmarks and/or review copies are dropped on one of us...we cannot make any guarantees of what will or will not be blogged. Each of us has her own unique sense of style...and each of us really wants to be true to that when she blogs.

So hopefully that makes sense...and now I'm off to dig through some work...happy Saturday everyone! ;)

International House of Style

Yo peeps! Glad to be here. My name is Trillian, and I too am a shopaholic.

Ok, straight to it. Cool shop with great content. Ever wanted to dress your electronic paper doll in different garbs from across the globe? I saw the best place, International House of Style.

I'm really stuck on the Indian and Middle Eastern stuff, but everything looks awesome. I think Oryx Tempel had a great idea with this shop. Most of the prices are around L$300. Everyone should really check it out. I'm so in love with this store!

Throws her hat into the ring.

"Steps into the spotlight , is blinded and trips over Phay's tiara" ... er Phay I think you forgot something and left the lights on.

Hi!
I'm in agreement with Viv on what I'll most likely write about. While I may be considered a content creator, I consider myself more of a content purchaser. I agreed to try and write for this blog because of the diversity of the contributors and our varied tastes and styles. I say "try" because I'm not always the best with words so you may find my reviews and comments more matter of fact then flowery.

Please do not send me review copies as I really want to write about some of the little "gems" I manage to stumble across. Kit has already posted about Fashion Consolidated and it has already given me a wealth of new places to try.

I am as excited as the rest and appreciate the opportunity to present some of those that are not in the spotlight but should be.

Vivianne Draper, reporting for duty

*peeks*

Hey everyone. Those who know me, know I am a professional power shopper. Yup yup I luvs to shop. Stick with me, you'll be broke in no time! That's my motto. So when Phay mentioned that this blog was starting up and asked if I'd like to join the staff, OMG I really hope I didn't drool on her too much in my hurry to say yes.

So, there are lots of other blogs out there that blog about designers we all know and love (and you know I do love each and every one of you). However, my focus is not going to be on those people. One of my bestest pleasures in all of SL is to find a little shop no one has heard of with really great stuffs. One of my second bestest pleasures is alerting all my friends that this place exists. So that's who and what I'll be blogging about. I also like mashing together outfits -- so you can expect my experimental nature to come out in this blog with my (hopefully) weekly, outfit mashup.

FYI -- I may, at times, blog about items from shops for which I have a business affilliation. I will state the conflict up front.

I know that recently review copies for bloggers has become a big issue so let me save you the trouble. Please do NOT send me review copies. If you don't send, then I won't feel obligated and you won't expect. Its just better that way. I would, however, love to hear about your shop. So if you have a new shop and you don't mind, please drop me an EMAIL at VivianneDraper at gmail with your shop's name and an slurl or coords or something -- telling me to find it in your picks is just fine as is using search. I'm search enabled! Go me! (Dropping a notecard on me in world might work too but with SL being so screwy and things not being delivered and IMs being capped I thought email was a more reliable system).

Anyway I'm really excited to be writing for the blog in my copious free time. Thanks for reading and beware of poo-flinging monkeys.

Hello!

I'll just put it right out there.

I'm not a designer. I'm just a stubborn, picky old woman who has difficulty finding someone to fit her fashion needs. I love glamour, I love gaud. Unfortunately, the two don't cross often or easily. I usually end up looking like Ronald MacDonald or Bridezilla. Thats why I began making my own SLattire. That's what I love about this Blog. These 5 women walk every lane of the Fashion Avenue, respectively, and collectively, they represent what we wear. It also gives us the unique opportunity to applaud each and every designer out there who toils endlessly over those daggum templates to do something more difficult than most imagine. CREATE. Myself, I get to highlight those designers who knock me off my feet with their signature styles and manage to walk that delicate line of gaud/glamour.

Making me look good is never an easy task. I'm a woman of six foot three, not including the beehive. After 8 facelifts, I still look fabulous, but the rest of me has gone South to retire. Thankfully, Starley and Canimal keep me from looking completely like a cadaver. Despite all this, me and my fake eyelashes still manage to sparkle and when I find an outfit that blows me away, my inner Drag Queen shouts, "I'm still Fierce!"

Those are the ones I'll be blogging about.

I'll be zipping around. Keep your doorways high and some tequila on the table. Maybe I'll see you around.

Ta!

Has FashCon changed our world?!!

Hi y'all!!

One of the first posts I wanted to do in this blog was a sort of rambling commentary/love letter to Honey Fairweather concerning the creation of the Fashion Consolidated group.

For those of you who aren't familiar, Fashion Consolidated is the brainchild of Honey Fairweather, who had the idea for the group basically because she (like a lot of us) had trouble keeping up with all the update groups of her favorite designers without hitting the 25 group limit imposed by Linden Labs.

Honey bravely sat out to make her group a reality...and not only can we now get a huge chunk of our updates in one place...she has opened a door for us all, and the results have been amazing!! As shoppers, we are now being exposed to a whole new world of designers and shops we never knew existed...and possibly never would have. As designers, we are able to show our work to people who might never have seen it otherwise...including one another. What started out as a little group meant to provide us with convenient updates in one place has turned into this rapidly-expanding community that thrives on the rich variety that SL fashion has to offer.

So...once again...I'd like to say thanks to Honey...for pursuing her idea...and for working so hard to keep balance in the group. It's not an easy task pleasing everyone...but Honey does a smashingly graceful job of it!! ;)

If you haven't joined the Fashion Consolidated group...what're you waiting for?!! Just go to groups and do a search...join is open and free for everyone. If you're a designer who'd like to participate by sending notices via the FashCon group, im Honey Fairweather personally with your shop info so she can set you up!!

Happy shopping everyone!!!! <3333333

Interview With Tenshi Vielle of High Fashion By Tenshi

I recently had the pleasure of chatting with Tenshi Vielle, who is the owner and designer of High Fashion by Tenshi. She has been in and out of the news and on the blog circuit for being a different type of diva...here she is, unplugged, (oh wait, this *is* electronic medium), unedited and uncut. :) This is the real deal, folks!

Q. Who is Tenshi?

A. I am a person that loves to laugh. I also love to make other people laugh. I have strong opinions about what is right and what is wrong and I stick with them. I am not a republican, a democrat, a christian nor a pagan. I don't believe anything is 100% the right path for any one person. I believe you must make your own path in life. I love being a jack of all trades.

Q. You recently had an article published in SL Herald about a certain "SL Fashionista" that garnered quite a row. What has been the fallout from this article and how has your RL/SL changed since then?

A. You mean it's still going on?? Holy crap. Most of the people that dogged me on the Herald I haven't run into. However, the few I have run into are what I call the "LL clique" and are kind of fake stuck-up women that I'm sure are just like their idols... Oh, dear sweet LL! Save me!!

Q. It appears you rock the boat on occasion with your commentary on SL Fashion. Why are you this way? Can you be stopped?

A. SL fashion has two spectrums: The fashionistas and the wannabe's. One is mostly 100% fantastic and one is just... well, they just plain suck. You know which ones are which. As for the princess fashionistas, I could give two shits less about what they think. I do what I want. :P

Q. Why do you care so much about fashion in Second Life?

A. It's quicker moving than the RL world of fashion. If nothing else, maybe Second Life will give people the MINDSET to not wear some of the crap I see people out in RL - including pj's in Wal-Mart. For christ's sakes, people, PUT SOME CLOTHES ON.

Q. Is the glass half-full or half-empty?
A. Depends on what's in it.

Q. How did you choose your SL name?

A. I'm a big gamer in my free time. I've always been Tenshi. As for Vielle, that was kind of a mistake. If I had bothered to check the french meaning, I would have noticed it meant "old". Forgive me... I've been out of french for a few years.

Q. What is the meaning of (Second) Life?

A. Hopefully to learn how to be more of a functioning member of society. To learn that to give is better than to recieve. To be true to yourself, I guess.

Q. Do you feel that your peers like you as a person or are you to be feared as a crazed, obsessed fashionista?

A. Oh, god. People that know me love me as much as I love them. The only time I get a little bit crazed is when I start losing inventory.

Q. Do you ever feel like you are misunderstood?
A. Sure.

Q. Why?

A. People don't bother to gather all the facts before they shoot their mouths off. It's a common human syndrome. I've heard the only cure is to remove said head from arse using a surgical procedure.

Q. What inspires your designs?

A. I make what I want to see. Sometimes I respond to the market - hence the unisex shirt and pants sets I've put out lately.

Q. Are you really 12 years old?
A. SIXTEEN! GET IT RIGHT!!! GOD!!! (22.)

Q. What do you like and dislike about SL fashions?

A. I like how quickly it can change. I dislike how some people half-ass items and sell it for an insanely jacked up price. Then again, what I hate even more are the idiots that buy it.

Q. Are there any fashions in SL that just need to DIE, already?!

A. Yeah. That whole trashy look. I'm sure Britney Spears appreciated it for a while, but for god's sakes. Blech.

Q. Biggest SL gripes:
A. Photosourcing. I HATE PHOTOSOURCING. There! I said it!!

Q. Favorite place in SL:
A. Tableau.

Q. Coolest event you recently attended in SL?

A. I attempted to attend a fashion show recently - Second Convention or something like that - but I crashed and then couldn't get back in.

Q. Funniest griefing you've seen in SL?

A. I honestly don't think any griefing is funny. I feel bad for people that get caged... but there ARE some people that deserve it. I remember once when my SL Mum and I were out shopping and some idiots WERE TYPING ALL IN CAPS. I made an off the cuff comment to the effect of "HEY YOU LEFT YOUR IDIOT LOCK ON" They orbited me. My SL Mum orbited them. It was a great turnabout.

Q. Best thing(s) about your second life?

A. My friends. They're all spectactular. (Big hug!) Plus the opportunities I get in here. Where else would I get to meet people from Vogue or NBC?

Q. Is your avatar a reflection of who you are in RL?

A. Yeah. I don't know why, but I like keeping my avatar looking like myself - if I get a good fashion idea in SL, sometimes I'll translate it to RL. I just enjoy keeping things linked.

Q. Are you just hatin' on everyone because you can't take the heat?

A. LMFAO... are you serious? ...I can take the heat. I don't spout off my mouth about nothing. When I have something to say its usually true. I just happen to have the balls to say it and sign my name.

Q. Do you eat popcorn and watch train wrecks while laughing?

A. Actually, I do. I'll be playing Counter-Strike Source and if someone gets an amazing shot normally I'll be laughing. It's a game. And I am a little sadistic.

Q. What issues do you think need to be taken seriously in SL?

A. OH MY GOD FIX THE GROUP NOTICES!!! I'm sick of having to use every single one of Honey Fairweather's Tips and Tricks for getting a notice out to the Fashion Consolidated group.

I just think LL needs to take a step back from their new projects (uh, voice? wtf?) and fix what they've got. I seem to remember a game called Tribes that went down a similar road... nobody plays it now.

Q. Any parting shots? Er, comments?
A. :) I wuv u, Boo.

And that, my friends, is a wrap. Not a jacket, or a poncho, a _WRAP_.

Helloooo Out There!!!

/me stands around and fidgets nervously for a minute trying to figure out what to say...then taps the microphone so it looks like she was just being cool and making sure the thing was on

So hi!

I'm Kit...and I wanted to take a cpl minutes here to talk about this blog & what it's all about!

Some of you might know me in SL...as co-owner of CKS Designs, as a majorly addicted shopaholic, as an American Idol addict, or as someone who just seems to hang around a lot and do goofy and/or weird things. Most of you, however, prolly don't know me at all and are now saying 'wtf is this chick's deal?!'

I've been in SL for a little over a year now...and I'm still amazed every day by the talent I see displayed around me. Of course the SL fashion scene is a huge avocation for me here (did I say I'm a shopaholic?!!!)...and, like the rest of you dear readers out there, I like to follow the blogs closely for posts about new pretties here, there, & everywhere. So I can rush out and buy them. And add to my rapidly-approaching-30K inventory. But I digress.

A little while back, my friend Phay & I were talking about the fashion blogs in general and how there is just *so much* out there that it's just impossible for it all to get coverage in blogs...and we wanted to start a blog to focus on the smaller/newer designers out there we find who just really rock our socks!! Hence, the birth of this blog!!

We have a few other contributors at this point who will be introducing themselves in the near future...and are certainly looking for more...so anyone who has interest in blogging some cool new, underexposed finds...please pop off an email to me (kit.maitland@gmail.com) or message me in world! Also...I encourage any newer designers out there to drop me a hello and/or a landmark...cos I can always use a little help finding cool new places! ;)

So uhmmmm...thanks for reading my silly rambling...& bye for now!! ;)
